little sal's italian afest

Well, THE party is over. I've finally come up for air. It was huge - both in size and success! I feel very fortunate to have been a part of this party. Everything was perfect - the weather, the client, the venue (which was at the client's beautiful home) and the company. The pictures just don't do this event justice; it was too large to photograph. Does that make any sense?!

Since the pictures don't do the party justice, I've included some written details.

-the main tent was 40' x 80'

-there was about 50 staff working the event

-Activities included: mandolin and accordian players, live entertainment (an italian singer/performer) as well as a DJ, photo booth, a magician, face painting, carnival games, prize cart

-5 Food booths serving: sausage and peppers sub, chicken cutlet, eggplant parmesan, meatball sub, ziti, lasagna, caesar salad, calamari salad, fried dough, clams on the half shell and more!

-then there were the 2 beverage booths: the soda/water (non-alcoholic) booth which had about 20 refreshments to choose from including a whole line up of Foxon Park sodas - you know the old cute glass bottle sodas. So cute! There were also several Italian sodas/refreshments available too. Then the wine and beer booth had both red and white, two beers on tap and champagne and peaches.

-a guy with his coffee/espresso cart

-a guy with his gelato cart

-dessert table: 2 different kinds of birthday cake, italian pastries, torrone, confetti (candy almonds) and of course cannoli's.

Too much to even describe! I just wish I could have been a guest at this party. I will post more details in the future. This post is getting quite lengthy, but there is just so much to tell.

In honor of the party...
Salute!

gearing up!

So the count down is on to my first MAJOR party. When I say major, I mean major. Not like the normal sized events I've done plenty of. A wedding I recently planned was a fraction of what this party is going to be. This weekend's gig is for a 1 year old birthday party, which seems like no big deal until the guest list comes into play. 400 guests!!!!!!! Yeap, you read that right, 400 people attending a 1 year old birthday. The theme is Italian Carnival or Italian Carnevale if you want to be technical - think Feast of San Gennaro. Here are a couple facts about the party just to give you some perspective on how big this party will be exactly... One tent will be 40'x80' - the entire lot my house sits on is only 50'x100'. There will be four food booths, four game booths, a magician, a photo booth, the tent, and much, much more. You can imagine how my head is spinning. I have been all around town the past couple of days picking up last minute items. I will post pictures soon - I promise.

On another note, I have already gotten two orders for Halloween cakes (which are my favorite to make). There is so much going on right now and it makes me oh-so-happy! Be careful what you wish for because it might just come true!

i'm doing it!

I'm really, really doing it! My creative juices have finally taken hold of me. I have always wanted to do something creative for myself, by myself, but unfortunately I have always been handicapped by my fear of failure. But now is the time to act. I am opening an etsy shop (http://partystyle.etsy.com/) and starting this matching blog for a creative outlet and publicity.

My father has told me several times throughout the years "not to decide, is to decide". (See Dad, I do listen.) So I AM deciding! Deciding to start what I have only dreamed of doing - styling and planning parties.

Stay tuned for stylish and inspiring entertaining!

Cheers!
Anne
